Cher, also known as the “Goddess of Pop,” is an iconic singer and actress who was brought into the spotlight in the early 60s. The talented woman is one of the few people to win several awards from three out of four of the major American entertainment awards. She has won a Grammy award, including being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. She has also won an Emmy award and an Oscar award for her acting skills.
Nobody does it quite like Cher, as they say. In honor of the talented woman’s career, The Cher Show Broadway Production was born. The musical book was written by Rick Elice, and in the production, Cher is played by three actresses dividing the play into three parts. The first Cher is nicknamed “Babe” and portrays Cher in the 1950s to the 1960s. The next star is nicknamed “Lady” and portrays the 1970s version of Cher. The last one is nicknamed “Star,” from the 1980s to the 1990s. The three versions interact with each other and help one another go through the struggles of stardom at various points in the production.
The Cher Show premiered in Chicago on the 12th of June, 2018. Since then, there have been three production tours and an upcoming fourth. The production received critical acclaim, with critics saying it was a “pleasant surprise” and “stayed true to Cher’s star quality.”
