Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey has been taking over the world recently. She announced her sophomore album ‘Bewitched’ mid-2023 and released its title track on the same day. The album follows on from the release of Laufey’s 2022 debut album ‘Everything I Know About Love’. Before the announcement of the album, she had released two singles from the album, ‘From The Start’ in May, and ‘Promise’ in June.
In an review by NME, the author praised each song on Laufey’s debut album and called them “a little glowing orb of magic.” “[Laufey] weaves this spellbinding soundscape with the tradition of 20th century jazz to create a fabric of modern, everyday life,” they wrote. The album was also listed as one of NME‘s 25 best debut albums of the year. What an achievement!
This year, it was announced that the composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist expanded her 2024 tour into North America. Originally, she only plotted out tour dates for the UK and Europe. Due to high demand, it was announced that she will continue the tour in the states. She’s bringing the Bewitched: The Goddess Tour to the US and Canada, starting with a show at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre on the 8th of April. She’s going coast to coast, visiting New York, San Francisco, Houston, and a surprise closing show in Los Angeles. More importantly though, she’s headed to Boston, Massachusetts.
Just a few days ago, she released her NPR Tiny Desk Concert. Accompanied by a string quartet, Laufey performed songs from her most recent album, Bewitched.
