The Four Seasons - the iconic rock and doo-wop crew - started their career in 1960 in Newark, New Jersey. Now, since 1970, they've also gone by the name Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. But rewind a bit – the band actually started as The Four Lovers, with Frankie Valli belting out lead vocals; Bob Gaudio on keyboards and tenor vocals; Tommy DeVito shredding on lead guitar and baritone vocals; and Nick Massi rocking the bass guitar and bass vocals.
In their '60s heyday, they were all over the charts as The 4 Seasons. They had two major lineups that crushed it: the original gang with Valli, Gaudio, DeVito, and Massi (later swapping in Joe Long in '65), dropping hits throughout the '60s. Then, in the '70s, there was a quintet, sometimes billed as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This crew featured Valli, Lee Shapiro, Gerry Polci, Don Ciccone, and John Paiva, with Gaudio and Long holding it down in the studio.
This year, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons have kicked off their grand finale tour, aptly named "The Last Encores Tour." It's the rock ‘n’ roll legends' farewell journey… and they're taking it all across North America from 2023 into most of 2024.
