Wang Theater At The Boch Center
Queens Of The Stone Age have proven that they're very much alive with a recent Grammy nomination for Rock Album of the Year. Even though the iconic 2000s stoner rock band is going on their "Catacombs Tour," 2025, expect a rather lively show! Those chants so typical of the genre will fill the entire Wang Theatre in Boston on Wednesday October 8th.
This event promises to be a rather surreal experience from the moment that you step inside the elegant and formal Wang Theatre with your boots and black t-shirt. Don't worry, the crew from Queens of the Stone Age will ensure that the stage is set to teleport you into those catacombs so you can forget the posh musicals that usually take place at this venue. This "Catacombs Tour" comes off the heels of their 2023 adventure "The End Is Nero Tour." Since that road trip made it all the way to the start of the year, there's no telling how long this latest quest will continue. However, the last few years, the band has been way more active. That's something that's certainly revamped the fanbase. You can expect not just Queens Of the Stone Age fans to show up to this show in Boston, but admirers of the genre in general. That might be THE thing that QOTSA caught! They realized there's a massive craving for premium live shows with stoner rock and metal bands. In the last 2 years at least, they've been more than happy to fill the void!
You might be one of those people who are on the fence about making your way to this show, particularly if you saw Queens of the Stone Age rather recently. However, keep in mind that in the last tour, they were still heavily promoting all of the tracks from "In Times New Roman." It's a solid album, no complaints there, Grammy nominated as we mentioned, buttt it's not "Songs for the Deaf." Those were arguably the peak years of QOTSA with the legend Dave Grohl in the picture. Since we're a few years removed from the release of "In Times New Roman," there's a better chance of seeing an all-time hits setlist for this night in Boston than you would've seen from the band last year or the year before that!
A lot of times, these "fancy" theaters will remove the front rows to create a general admission standing room only area for rock shows of this caliber. That's not going to be the case though for QOTSA at the Wang Theater. With that in mind, you might have a better viewing experience from one of the balconies. As mentioned, the "posh" and formal nature of the venue is set to contrast beautifully with this show. It could be cool to take that in as part of the experience.
